The first month of the year is gone and we are now into February.
Some of our commitments to change have already gone by the wayside, but we have a new holiday to celebrate: Valentine’s Day.
This year shop for the best Valentine’s Day card ever.
Sign it and even put it in the snail mail with a stamp and everything. And send it to the most precious person you know: you.
Note how you feel when that envelope arrives, and what it feels like to tear open the envelope (or for you more cautious ones, carefully pulling back the flap). Read the words and absorb the message you have sent to yourself.
Then go out and celebrate the wonder that is you.
Celebrate what makes your special
By waiting for others to celebrate our specialness, we often forget that until we value ourselves, it is very hard for others to identify with who we are.
The bird was born to sing a song. The tree was designed to grow leaves. The bird doesn’t care that its song is different from other species; the tree doesn’t compare itself to different geneses in the forest. They each intrinsically KNOW who and what they were created to be. Well, in truth we do to, if we will just trust that the Universe knew what it was doing, since the beginning of time.
We do not need to carry our sorrows with us for one more day, nor one more hour, nor one more minute. We are now the creators of our life and that begins with the love we show ourselves and then we will have the ability to join with others and celebrate their specialness.
This Valentine’s Day, vow to remember that child who thought all things were possible and knew loving themselves was okay.
