How to Deal with Change

August 10, 2015 by Linda Lynch-Johnson

Image-1When change comes your way – which it always will – there are several ways you can deal with it: avoidance, denial, resentment, “you can’t make me,” or embrace it.

Embrace it?

Okay, I get that if it’s something I chose, but something I didn’t?

How about a simple step to start with, and this is for any type of change that enters your life…

Hit the “pause button”

When you hit the pause button, you have the opportunity to see what’s really there. You notice things in the background that you didn’t see before. Try it out.

If you have a DVR or DVD player, hit pause and observe what’s in the background.

  • Who’s in the picture?
  • What are they wearing?
  • Who’s not in the picture?
  • Are there house numbers?

Take your time and note everything that’s there. The other thing you’ll notice: there’s no sound. It is totally silent.

How many times does the noise in our lives confuse the situation?

So next time, whenever change enters your life, before doing anything, before making a decision, hit the pause button and take a deep breath.
