To some September is an ending – summer is over, not officially – but to all intents and purposes; school has started and Labor Day is late this year – September 7th.
To me, it’s always been a beginning. And that is centered on school starting.
I relished the opportunity to go purchase fresh notebooks; those #2 pencils that smelled so good when you put them through the sharpeners mounted on the wall at the back of the classroom; the new clothes that were always too warm to wear those last hot days that seemed to always appear when school started.
There were new classes, new students to interact with and new teachers to assess our abilities – what did we remember from the previous school year and what had we forgotten.
It was a time to: assess the situation – the #2 step in the Adapter Factor. There are so many opportunities we have to take control of our reactions to change – the wanted and the unwanted. After you’ve “hit the pause button,” which by the way is NOT the stop button – take the time to gauge what is really important before moving forward.
Focus on what you want to create by looking at what you already have and see if you’re on the right path.
