Step #3 in the Adapter Factor is: Figure Out the Why.
Too many people think that has to do with dissecting what happen in the past – Why did I do this? Why did I do that? This is not about psycho-analysis – that is not what this is about. Once an action has been taken, words spoken, decisions made – you can’t “unring” that bell, so move forward and take it as a learning lesson.
Rather think of it like this: Why do I want to do this next step? Why do I want to accept this next position? Why do I want to – fill in the blank.
The question for you to answer is: How can I view this change and adapt this choice so that it supports my success?
Figure out the Why.
Because it’s all about adapting to change.
Holding your head and wringing your hands and telling everybody who will listen about the awful position you’re in, will not move you forward. Could you have a “brief” pity party? I don’t know. How often do you stay mired in misery? Maybe, your choice should be to not go there in the first place.
Remember those first two steps: Hit the Pause Button and then Assess the Situation – now add the third, Figure out the Why.
Let me know if you would like further information on workshops and presentations where we can explore these topics and use The Adapter Factor to thrive – that’s what it’s all about.
